Editor's note: Take a look back into The Dallas Morning News's archives.July 31 is National Avocado Day, and while it may be trendy to consume all the different versions of avocado toast, why don't we throw it in Jell-O and revive that trend? In the 1960's, savory gelatin salads, known as aspics, were a staple in many homes. Some recipes included avocados, peas, meat and even Tabasco.
