Firefighters Respond to Blaze That's Through the Roof of Apartment Complex Near Vickery Meadow

Firefighters are responding to a blaze that's through the roof of a three-story apartment complex in the Vickery Meadow area. Crews responded to the call in the 5800 Phoenix Drive, near Greenville Avenue and park Lane, about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. Smoke billowed from the building so firefighters deployed hand-lines and moved in for an offensive fire attack, Dalals Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said. But soon after, they initiated a second alarm after fire began to come from the third floor and attic. Firefighters are using ladder pipes to try to bring the fire under control.
