Firefighter Shot by Suicidal Gunman in East Dallas Is Stable, in ‘great Spirits’

The Dallas firefighter-paramedic who suffered near-fatal injuries earlier this month when he pulled up to tend to a suicidal gunman's first two victims in Old East Dallas is in stable condition.William An, 36, is "eager to face the next steps in his road to recovery," Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said Monday. An was critically wounded a week ago and lying in the street when Dallas police arrived to the home were gunman Derick Lamont Brown lurked inside and was later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The officers saved An's life when they pulled him into a squad car and drove him to Baylor University Medical Center where he reportedly went into cardiac arrest three times during surgery.The bullets broke one of An’s legs and pierced an artery which caused significant blood loss.  Continue reading...
