Ex-Fort Worth Officer Who Spent 21 Years in Prison for Rape Is Found Not Guilty in New Trial

A former Fort Worth police officer who served 21 years after being convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl has been found not guilty in a new trial.Brian Franklin, 57, was sentenced to life in prison after his conviction in 1995. It took a jury just over an hour to find him not guilty on Friday, KTVT-TV (Channel 11) reported.The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruled in April that his conviction should be thrown out because his accuser later admitted lying during his trial. The court said that led other witnesses to give false testimony.The woman, now in her 30s, testified in 2014 that her stepfather repeatedly raped her when she was a child — starting before she accused Franklin of rape and continuing through his trial.  Continue reading...
