Ethics Panel Tosses Complaint Against Dallas Council Member for Tweet About Destroying Civil War Monument

A preliminary panel of the city’s Ethics Advisory Commission on Tuesday tossed out a complaint that a former Dallas City Council member lodged against current council member Philip Kingston.Sandra Crewshaw filed the complaint on Jan. 15, two days after Kingston posted on Twitter about a fantasy of destroying an obelisk near the Texas State Capitol in Austin that honored the members of a Texas brigade led by Confederate Gen. John B. Hood.Kingston’s tweeted: “I had a City of Dallas van down at the Capitol last week, and I had a daydream about ramming it onto that obelisk by the east entrance and just walking down Congress to the Stephen F.
