Envelope With White Powder Found at North Dallas Psychiatric Hospital

Officials are working to determine whether an envelope containing a white powdery substance found Monday at a North Dallas psychiatric hospital is dangerous. Dallas Fire-Rescue was called about 2:40 p.m. to Medical City Green Oaks Hospital in the 7800 block of Clodus Fields Drive, near Forest Lane, in North Dallas. One person reportedly opened the addressed envelope in a conference room while a second person was present, and was immediately exposed to the powder, department spokesman Jason Evans said. Neither person showed signs or symptoms of being exposed to a toxin, but about eight to 10 people in that area of the building were evacuated. No one has been transported to the hospital.The air-handling system to the conference room was also deactivated to stop the powder from spreading, Evans said.
