Elderly Couple Dies as Fire Destroys Farmersville Home

An elderly couple was killed in a fire that raced through their Farmersville home Tuesday morning.Delvin Harrison Sergent, 86, and Betty Lou Sergent, 88 -- both longtime residents of Farmersville -- were found inside their home in the 500 block of Maple Street after the fire broke out around 4:08 a.m., Police Chief Mike Sullivan said.The structure was fully involved, which made it difficult for firefighters to enter at first, Sullivan said. The couple's daughter lives next door and ran over to the home to help first responders, but the fire was too intense, according to KTVT-TV (Channel 11).The home was completely destroyed.
