East Texas Teacher Calls Himself ‘a Monster' After Admitting to Relationship With Student, Police Say

A Longview school teacher told district officials that he "needed to be arrested" after admitting to a relationship with a female student, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by the Longview News-Journal. Jacob Vincent Badgett, 25, was arrested on March 8 and charged with an improper relationship between an educator and student. According to the News-Journal, Badgett coached sports at Spring Hill High School and Spring Hill Junior High. He also taught physical education at Spring Hill Primary School.The affidavit says Badgett went to the district's athletic director March 7 and admitted to an "explicit relationship" with a student before asking the athletics director to call police.Badgett told the Spring Hill ISD superintendent in a later meeting that he was "a monster" and "a predator." When the school resource officer arrived at the meeting, "Badgett turned around and put his hands behind his back as if to have handcuffs put on," according to the affidavit.  Continue reading...
