Dysfunctional Dallas Democrats Have Only Themselves to Blame for the Mess They Are in

After local Republicans filed a lawsuit to remove 128 Democrats from the March primary ballot, Democratic Party leaders moaned that their GOP rivals were trying to divide them.If true, it's too late. The Dallas County Democratic Party is already divided. And it was that way long before Republicans began to poke at the Democrats' sloppy system of candidate verification.Local Democrats have become victims of their own success, unable to manage the demographic shifts that catapulted them to power. They are unwilling to modernize the party's leadership -- elected and appointed -- with fresh, vibrant and younger participants. They are fractured by race, gender, geography and class.
