A driver fled after hitting and killing a man crossing the street early Monday in South Dallas, police said. The man, who has not been identified, was crossing the street around 1:30 a.m. when he was hit by a car traveling northbound on 2nd Avenue near Elsie Faye Heggins Street. The driver did not stop after hitting the man, police said. Police said the pedestrian was not using a crosswalk when he crossed the street from east to west and had turned back east moments before he was hit.
