Driver Dies After West Oak Cliff Crash That Injured Dallas Fire-Rescue Medics

A driver is dead and two Dallas Fire-Rescue medics were hospitalized after a crash early Sunday morning in west Oak Cliff, officials said.The ambulance was driving west on West Davis Street about 3:15 a.m., headed to a call about a medical emergency, when a pickup driver going south on North Westmoreland Road ran a red light and crashed into the ambulance, police said.The pickup driver as well as two medics in the ambulance had to be extricated from the wreckage, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said. All three were taken to a local hospital.The civilian driver, identified as 28-year-old Luis Cabrera, died of his injuries at the hospital, police said.The medic who was driving the ambulance is OK and expected to be released from the hospital, Evans said. The medic in the passenger seat had more serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital for ongoing treatment and observation, he said.  Continue reading...
