Driver Dies After Swerving Into Oncoming Traffic, Getting Struck Near Red Bird

A driver died after swerving into oncoming traffic and getting struck near Red Bird overnight, police said. The driver, 55-year-old Gerrick Butler, died at the scene.Butler was traveling westbound in the 2800 block of West Ledbetter Drive, near South Hampton Road about 2:45 a.m. Saturday when he crossed over the center median, Dallas police spokesman Demarquis Black said.Another vehicle traveling eastbound struck Butler's vehicle, which spun off the south side of the road and into a tree line, where it came to rest.
