Donors Triple Number of Families Receiving Christmas Gifts After Fire Destroyed Toys at Dallas Nonprofit

A fire that destroyed a pile of Christmas gifts for needy Dallas families on Tuesday turned out to have a silver lining after all.While the nonprofit Quest 4 Greater Success originally planned to give out toys to 54 families, donors amassed enough replacement gifts for 182 families, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported."Some of these families have to use their money for food, and not for toys--so we wanted to make sure that each family here got toys for their kids on Christmas," executive director Assata Thomas told WFAA.The fire was reported at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Asante Apartments at 202 S. Jim Miller Road early Tuesday.
