Donors Raise $137,000 for Dallas Schools After Hearing About Kids Coming to Class With Dirty Clothes

About 30 employees from a Dallas-based hospitality design firm taped down carpet tiles, moved in furniture and hung up artwork.The assignment was typical. The setting wasn’t. Looney & Associates normally creates high-end spaces in hotels and restaurants. Think The Hyatt and Fogo De Chao.But last week the firm spruced up J.W. Ray Elementary School in Old East Dallas, adding framed student artwork to the parent-teacher lounge, carpets and chairs to reading nooks in the hallway and balls and jerseys for the playground. The firm’s employees also donated more than two dozen bottles of laundry detergent and dryer sheets to complement the washer and dryer the company delivered a week earlier.  Continue reading...
