Dog Set to Be Euthanized After Attacking Toddler at Klyde Warren Park

The rescue dog that attacked a 2-year-old at a pet adoption event last month will be euthanized, a Dallas judge ruled Friday.Rusty, a Labrador pit-bull mix, is scheduled to be put down on Jan. 16 for causing bodily harm to the child. Dallas Animal Services Director Ed Jamison said the ruling is the result of a "very unfortunate situation" borne from the "perfect storm of bad things that happened in a short period of time."Luca Romero was with his parents at Klyde Warren Park on Dec. 16 petting dogs at a Dallas Pets Alive adoption event when he was attacked, his mother said.Allis Cho said the dog lunged at her son and pinned him to the ground by sinking his teeth into his arm and chest, leaving wounds that required multiple stitches. She and her husband, Alan Romero, said they wanted the dog to be put down."It was an unprovoked attack," Romero said at the time. "This dog is dangerous.
