Bedford is having a Christmas celebration for furry friends (dogs, cats and small domestic pets) from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday on the Old Bedford School's lawn, 2400 School Lane. The festivities include a pet costume contest at 3, parade at 3:30 and pictures with Santa (from 3 to 4). The city's annual tree lighting -- featuring family (including pet) activities, free refreshments, performances, hayrides, an ugly sweater contest at 5:30 and Santa's arrival at 6 -- will follow, from 4 to 8 p.m. There will also be a holiday gift bazaar (also pet-friendly) from noon to 6 p.m. at the library, next door.
