Dog About Town: Celebrating Cinco and More Things to Do

The whole family is invited to play and taste at Dog Dayz of Dallas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Flag Pole Hill. The Cinco de Mayo-themed festivities, co-hosted by the Pet Divas and Bull-Luv-Able Paws & Chi Wawas Rescue, will feature more than 70 vendors -- including vets, groomers, trainers and photographers -- along with adoptions, low-cost vaccines and heartworm testing.Contests include Mexican jumping pup (musical chairs with you and your pup) at 11, "salsa" eating (a dog biscuit covered in fat-free whipped cream) at 11:30 and Cinco dress-alikes (above) at noon, and raffle prizes include an Apple watch, training and grooming gift certificates and two American Airlines tickets. There will also be food trucks selling treats for all; live music by Tori Sloan, Brent Engel and Josh Halverson (a season 11 contestant from The Voice); and face painting and balloon animals for the two-legged little ones.The first 300 attendees will receive swag bags, and the first 50 will get a doggy bed too.
