Discouraging Words at the CDC as Science Takes Another Political Beating

Whether they're banned or just discouraged isn't the point: Reports of an administrative war on words at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is bad news for all of us. Heads Freds at the nation's public health agency and its parent, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Sciences, were hot in their denials over the weekend that they have - strictly speaking - "banned" seven words, including "vulnerable," "fetus," and "science-based."
