Digital Retailer Wayfair Starts Huge Shipping Hub in Lancaster

Developer Duke Realty Corp. has broken ground for digital retailer Wayfair's new regional shipping hub in Lancaster.The 874,566-square-foot distribution center is being built on Interstate 35E at Wintergreen Road.The fulfillment center - which will open next year - includes more than 14,000 square feet of office space."Wayfair is a valued customer with warehouse operations in several Duke Realty buildings around the country," Duke senior vice president Jeff Thornton said in a statement. "This new facility will provide excellent interstate access and incorporate modern features that are designed to enhance storage, distribution and fulfillment capabilities."John Brewer, Ben Phillips, John Lasher and Jon Varholak with Transwestern Commercial Services negotiated the lease of the building Duke Realty's Matt Hyman.Wayfair's new shipping facility is just west of where online retailing giant Amazon just opened its newest North Texas fulfillment center off Dallas Road.Amazon rented the 920,000-square-foot warehouse from VanTrust Real Estate.The Amazon lease and Wayfair's rental deal are two of the largest warehouse transactions in southern Dallas County this year.  Continue reading...
