Detroit's Renee Hall Appears to Be Just the Police Chief Dallas Needs Right Now

I had a feeling, back in June, that Renee Hall was going to be Dallas' next chief of police.It might have been something her boss, Detroit Chief James Craig, told me: "I know her temperament, and her commitment to the community and the rank and file." Or it might have been something she said during a 2015 panel on race and policing: "We cannot arrest our way out of the issues surrounding the city of Detroit."
