Denton Mother Arrested After Child Suffers Skull Fracture, Brain Hemorrhage

A Denton woman has been arrested after her child suffered a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage.Tania Rangel, 25, was booked into the Denton jail Friday on a charge of injury to a child.Authorities were called to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Interstate 35 on Thursday afternoon after a report that the child had a head injury after a fall, police said. The child was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, where doctors said that the child's injuries weren't consistent with a fall. In addition to the skull fracture and brain hemorrhage, there was evidence of earlier head injuries, police said.Child Protective Services was notified, and Denton police arrested Rangel. Authorities are continuing to investigate.She remained in custody Friday evening, with bail set at $500,000.  Continue reading...
