A federal judge sentenced a Denton County sex offender to 50 years in prison Friday, months after he pleaded guilty to a child exploitation charge.Authorities began investigating 36-year-old Adam Donald Bennet in 2018 after officials said he started chatting with an undercover officer online.In his conversation with the officer, Bennet admitted to committing sexual acts with minors, according to the U.S. attorney's office for the Northern District of Texas.Bennet, who was a previously convicted sex offender, sent the officer a video of himself abusing a child, officials said.In April, Bennet pleaded guilty to a federal charge of sexual exploitation of children.His case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Justice Department initiative aimed at stopping the sexual exploitation and abuse of children throughout the nation.
