Dead Baby Found in Applebee's Trash Can After Woman Gives Birth in Bathroom, Irving Police Say

A dead baby was found in a trash can after a woman gave birth in an Irving restaurant's bathroom Friday afternoon, police said.Officers were called to the Applebee's in the 1900 block of North Belt Line Road, near State Highway 183, around 4:45 p.m. for a report of an unconscious person. When they arrived, they found a newborn dead inside a restroom trash can.According to police, a woman gave birth to the child in the bathroom, then placed the child in the trash can. Employees discovered the child about half an hour later.Authorities won't know whether the child was born alive or stillborn until an autopsy is completed, police said.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Irving police at 972-273-1010 and refer to case No. 19-16759.
