Dallas Zoo Reaches Million-visitor Mark for Third Time, and at Record Pace

For the third year in a row, the Dallas Zoo has ushered a million guests through its gates.The zoo hit the milestone Thursday for the third time in its 129-year history as more than 19,000 people turned out for the opening of Dollar Day, where admission was $1 dollar for guests. The mid-July date is the earliest the zoo has hit the target, which is achieved by 38 zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums annually. Last year, the zoo achieved the goal on August 27. The fiscal year doesn't end until Sept. 30, so there's still plenty of time to top previous attendance records.   Continue reading...
