Dallas Stars Foundation Pledges $2 Million Gift to Aid South Dallas School, Community

The Dallas Stars Foundation announced Thursday that it has pledged $2 million over the next five years to St. Philip's School and Community Center in South Dallas in connection with the team being chosen to host the league's 2020 Winter Classic. "St. Philip's and its people are doing great things in South Dallas," said Marty Turco, president and chair of the Dallas Stars Foundation. "It's just something we know is right."The team made the announcement at the annual "Fight Night" event benefiting The Real Estate Council Foundation, which was held at the Hilton Anatole."This is unparalleled by sports teams in Dallas," said Terry Flowers, headmaster of St. Philip's. "It may even be unparalleled elsewhere. And it's major for an area of town that doesn't receive a great deal of attention from pro sports in the community."The Stars Foundation's gift will help the private school build a multi-sport athletic complex and fund afterschool and summer programming.
