Dallas' Public Housing Residents Struggle as Homes Become More Distant From City's Core

At a glance, Mythia Joseph and Chanelle Cook look like two women with very similar lives. Both are single mothers struggling to make ends meet in public housing in Dallas. But their lives couldn't be more different, largely because of the location of the public housing they find themselves in. Joseph, 41, lives in Roseland Estates, an aging Dallas Housing Authority complex that sits in the middle of one of the most concentrated urban areas in the region — not far from Uptown.
