Dallas Police Arrest Man in Connection With Slaying of Muhlaysia Booker

Dallas police announced Wednesday that they had made an arrest in connection with the death of Muhlaysia Booker.Maj. Max Geron said at a news conference Wednesday that they learned that the man arrested after two other recent slayings drove a vehicle similar to one reportedly involved in Booker's case.Kendrell Lavar Lyles, 34, has been charged with three counts of murder.Police had said in May that the fatal shooting of Booker, 22, shared similarities with two other attacks on transgender woman — an Oct. 21 slaying and an April stabbing in which the victim survived.In the October case, 29-year-old Brittany White was found fatally shot in a vehicle parked in southeast Dallas. In the April attack, a 26-year-old transgender woman was repeatedly stabbed and left for dead in South Dallas. The woman survived and provided information about her attacker.Less than two weeks after that news conference, on June 1, the body of Chynal Lindsey, 26, was pulled from White Rock Lake and showed "obvious signs of homicidal violence," police Chief U. Reneé Hall said.Police also said they were looking for possible ties to another case, where a transgender woman's remains were found in a field in east Oak Cliff in July 2017. The Dallas County medical examiner classified the death of Armani Dante Morgan, 27, as unexplained.Maj. Vincent Weddington said in May that authorities had not found a definite link among the attacks.
