Dallas Man Gets 32 Years in Prison for Killing Girlfriend's Teenage Son

When Jesus Rodriguez was drunk, he turned violent and possessive. After repeatedly hitting his girlfriend in February 2016, 27-year-old Rodriguez fatally shot his girlfriend's teenage son after he intervened in the fight. Rodriguez was convicted of murder last week. On Monday, a Dallas County jury sentenced him to 32 years in prison for killing 16-year-old Jesus Ricardo Hernandez, who his family called Ricky.After drinking beer and snorting cocaine on Feb. 5, 2016, Rodriguez hit his girlfriend, Claudia Corona Hernandez, in the bedroom of her north Oak Cliff home. When her teenage sons walked in and saw what was going on, they started fighting Rodriguez. The fight spilled into the backyard. Ricky went inside the house several times to grab Rodriguez's clothes and throw them outside. Ricky and his younger brother kicked and hit Rodriguez in the backyard. Rodriguez's brother intervened.
