A Texas lawmaker is seeking greater oversight of potentially dangerous gas meters placed in striking distance of drivers after The Dallas Morning News and NBC 5 Investigates found that motorists have hit thousands of meters in recent years.“The bottom line is we want to make sure that the public is safe,” said state Rep. Rafael Anchia, D-Dallas.Throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, natural gas meters still stand near streets and alleys with no barriers to protect them, posing risks.
