Dallas ISD Student on Life-support After Being Found Unresponsive in Pool in San Antonio

A Dallas ISD student was on life-support Monday after he was found at the bottom of a pool in San Antonio, where he was attending a school competition. A sponsor found the student, 12-year-old Hoang Minh Phan, shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday at a Marriott hotel, WOIA-TV reported. The sponsor pulled him out and began CPR. Hoang, a student at Dallas Environmental Science Academy, had been attending a math and science competition, according to the district.His family told the station that he was left unsupervised by the school. Hoang was put on a ventilator but the hospital declared him brain-dead, WOIA reported. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and school community," Dallas ISD said in a written statement. "We want to assure families that student safety is always a top priority."A counseling team was made available for students and staff of the West Dallas school, the district said.   Continue reading...
