Dallas' Gardere Wynne Sewell to Merge as Law Firm Hookups Continue in Texas

Dallas-based law firm Gardere Wynne Sewell said Friday it will merge with Milwaukee-based Foley & Lardner to form a firm with about 1,100 lawyers in 24 offices in the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe and joint revenues of $830 million.The change is effective Sunday.The combined firm will be known as Foley Gardere in Texas and Denver and as Foley Gardere Arena in Mexico City. All other offices will operate as Foley & Lardner. The move gives Foley, which had no offices in Texas, a presence in Austin, Dallas and Houston, as well as Denver and Mexico City."Gardere clients and attorneys will benefit from Foley's strong presence in the Midwest, the East and West coasts and Florida, as well as Belgium and Tokyo," the law firms said in a statement.As a result of the combination, Foley will expand in several service areas including corporate, litigation, intellectual property, energy, government solutions and financial restructuring and reorganization.
