Dallas-Fort Worth Area Participates in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

It shouldn't be difficult to dispose of outdated medication this weekend, as more than 100 locations in North Texas will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.The universal event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at dozens of locations in Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Rockwall and Denton counties.The event is designed to provide a convenient way to get rid of prescription drugs that have expired or are no longer needed.The FDA recommends the prompt disposal of unwanted drugs to help reduce the chance that others accidentally take or misuse the medicine, and to help reduce drugs from entering the environment.The most recent Take Back Day brought in more than 900,000 pounds of unused or expired prescription medication, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration, to add to a total amount of 10.8 million since 2010.To find the nearest disposal location, visit the U.S. Department of Justice's Diversion Control Division and enter your location.  Continue reading...
