Dallas Firefighter Among 5 Killed in New York Helicopter Crash

A Dallas firefighter was among the five people killed when a helicopter crash-landed in New York's East River on Sunday evening.Dallas-Fire Rescue confirmed Monday that officer Brian McDaniel, 26, died in the crash. He was a two-year member of the department, a spokesman said.The helicopter was carrying five people for a private photo shoot when it went down in the East River around 7 p.m., officials said. McDaniel was single and had no children, and he is survived by his father, mother and brother, a Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman said.A video journalist originally from Dallas, Trevor Cadigan, was also killed in the crash, the New York Daily News reported. All five passengers aboard the helicopter died; only the pilot survived, the paper reported. The other people killed in the crash were Carla Vallejos Blanco, a tourist from Argentina, and helicopter employees Tristan Hill and Daniel Thompson, the Daily News reported.  Continue reading...
