Dallas Executive Airport Development, Led by Former City Employee, Approved After Turbulence at City Hall

A deal for a $15.9 million development on the desolate west side of Dallas Executive Airport had a hard landing Wednesday during a City Council meeting.Council members had grown more wary of the agreement in the past week since it sailed through an Economic Development and Housing Committee meeting. Some wanted to delay the item or explore putting it out for a competitive bid.But after nearly two hours of discussion, the council voted 8-7 in favor of the deal, which its backers hope will spur growth at a long-neglected airport that officials have poured money into in recent years."This project is very important to the city and I care greatly about it," said Mayor Mike Rawlings.  Continue reading...
