Dallas Doesn't Need a Tougher Police Review Panel, and Chief Hall Should Say So

For months now, city officials have debated whether Dallas needs a more robust Citizens Police Review Board with increased powers to review allegations of police misconduct.We don’t think that’s the right direction for either police officers working the streets or for their commanders at headquarters. We wish Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall had said as much to the Dallas City Council. This was a chance for Hall to demonstrate that she is the leader of the police force and that she has the confidence and capability to investigate and discipline errant officers in a way that builds community trust while protecting good officers from anti-police anger.
