Dallas County wants to make Election Day simpler.The county’s elections administrator hopes that by the November 2019 election, the county can do away with precinct-based polling places and allow voters to show up at any voting center around the county to cast a ballot.The Dallas County Commissioners Court voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a $6 million contract with election software company Tenex, which will allow the county to replace its paper poll books with electronic ones on iPads.That electronic poll book system — already used in Tarrant County — would pave the way for voting centers that will work much like early voting locations, elections administrator Toni Pippins-Poole said.
