Dallas-based Vistra Energy Reportedly in Talks to Buy Houston Rival Dynegy

Dallas-based Vistra Energy Corp. is in talks to take over Houston-based power producer Dynegy, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing unnamed sources. A deal, if it happens, would create one the largest independent power producers in the country.Dynegy shares were trading at $9.14 Friday morning, up more than 26 percent. Vistra is the company that emerged from the Energy Future Holdings bankruptcy and owns TXU Energy and Luminant, which is the state's largest power generator.
