Happy Friday, Curious Texans! We answered two of your questions related to the heavy Dallas-area storms on June 9. 1. Is the food in your fridge still safe to eat after a power outage? The storm that killed one and injured five others also damaged neighborhoods and left thousands of Dallasites without power. 2. Need help replacing spoiled food after the power outages? Curious Texas tells you where to go. The delayed power restoration has left restaurants temporarily closed and food spoiling across the city. One of our readers who identified himself as Butch, wanted to know if there was any type of assistance for people who may be unable to replenish their refrigerators with fresh food once their electricity returned. We also asked for your feedback on how your community came together after Sunday's storms. 3. Acts of kindness shine bright in storm's aftermath. Two days after the storm passed, it was easy to see all the efforts -- big and small -- that showed the community's compassion for those whose lives were hardest hit. The response has generated an outpouring of gratitude from people who found help when they needed it most.4. 'It's quite messy': Dallas residents count their blessings as they dig out from storm. Thousands of residents -- from North Dallas to Oak Cliff to Lake Highlands and in between -- grappled Monday with the realities of property damage, streets and yards littered with debris and loss of power.
