Critics of Abbott’s Proposed Sanctuary City Ban Gear Up for a Fight

Many critics of Gov. Greg Abbott's push for a ban on sanctuary cities say he is following in President Donald Trump's footsteps to instill fear and uncertainty in the state's immigrant communities.Abbott's push for a ban in this legislative session has been denounced by most immigrants' rights and Latino organizations, as well as business and workers' rights groups.Latinos in the state House are now "gearing up for a fight," said Rafael Anchía, chairman of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus, whose 42 members represent Latino-majority constituencies."Everybody in the caucus is really mad," he said.
