Council Agrees to Spend Another $200,000 to Keep ‘Queen of the South' in Dallas

On Wednesday, the Dallas City Council did what it could to keep Queen of the South from fleeing Dallas. By a 14-1 vote, it approved spending $200,000 in economic incentives on the USA Network series that stars Alice Braga as a Mexican drug queenpin taking refuge here. If the series remains here, which isn't yet definite, production would begin in January.The council's vote sparked a discussion about whether this is how the city should be spending economic development dollars.  Continue reading...
