Corpus Christi Father, Son Hiking Near Carlsbad Caverns Found Dead

A Corpus Christi father and son who went missing last week while hiking near Carlsbad Caverns National Park were found dead Tuesday, New Mexico officials said.The wife of Robert Stuart Pluta, 57, had not heard from him or their son, Robert Neal Pluta, 21, since June 14. She learned they had not checked out of the hotel they were staying in and notified authorities Monday, New Mexico State Police said in a statement provided to KIII-TV. The U.S. Park Service soon found their truck at the Rattlesnake Canyon trailhead, northwest of the park, and initiated a search, the Carlsbad Current-Angus reported.Search and rescue teams discovered the body of the younger Pluta about 10 p.m. Monday.
