Confucius Institute at UTD Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Confucius is alive and well at the University of Texas at Dallas. Well, not literally, but the renowned Chinese philosopher who left a legacy of practical advice exists in spirit through the Confucius Institute. These worldwide institutes offer "a window to China [and] a gateway to Chinese language and culture."UTD has been the home of a Confucius Institute for 10 years. The university celebrated the partnership with a banquet Wednesday that included singing, remarks and awards.The event started with choir students from the International Leadership of Texas School in Garland performing songs in Chinese and English. Dr. Ming Dong Gu, director of the institute, welcomed guests. Other who gave remarks were Dr. Dennis Kratz, executive chair of the institute; Dr. Hobson Wildenthal, an executive vice president of UTD; and Dawei Huang, vice president of Southeast University in China.  Continue reading...
