It's a bit of a mystery how a snowy owl found its way south to North Texas this time of year. The majestic, white-feathered bird with beady yellow eyes was supposed to be in the Alaskan or Canadian Arctic, feasting on rodents like voles and lemmings in the treeless tundra. "They're not suppose to be here at all," said Erich Neupert, executive director of the Collin County-based Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. In December, a worker at North Texas Regional Airport in Denison, about 75 miles north of Dallas, found the male snowy owl. It was emaciated and had a bruised wing.
