Citizen Mike Gambles Big to Do What Mayor Mike Couldn't: Stop Pension Fund's Bleeding

Back in April 2012, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings endorsed three candidates for Dallas ISD's board of trustees ... just not as mayor, since the city's ethics code prohibits elected officials from using their titles when doling out endorsements. Said Rawlings, when defending his doings, "I can, as a citizen, endorse anyone I want."Thus was born mere mortal Citizen Mike, the shucks-y'all-I'm-just-a-taxpayer who, when not holed up in I.M. Pei's Fortress of Solitude on Marilla Street, can also sue anyone he wants. Like the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System, which is around $3.3 billion in the hole and speeding toward insolvency.And just when you thought this story couldn't get any uglier.
