Celebrities, Wealthy Parents Charged With Bribery to Get Students Into Elite Schools, Including UT

This is a developing story and will be updatedWASHINGTON -- The Justice Department has charged more than 30 people -- college coaches, wealthy parents and two television stars -- in a bribery and cheating scheme to get their children into elite colleges, including the University of Texas.The alleged crimes include cheating on entrance exams and bribing college officials to say certain students played college sports when they were not an athlete.Among those charged in the scheme include Felicity Huffman, who is known for her role on “Desperate Housewives,” and Lori Loughlin, who appeared on “Full House,” according to court documents.Some of the other schools involved in the crimes that date back to 2011 include Georgetown, Yale, Stanford and the University of Southern California.  Continue reading...
