Cedar Hill Superintendent to Be Named Sole Finalist for Midland ISD Position

The Midland ISD school board will vote Monday night to name a sole finalist for superintendent. Cedar Hill Superintendent Orlando Riddick is expected to be named to the position, district board president Rick Davis announced in a post on the Midland Reporter-Telegram. Once named, the board will have to wait the 21 days required by state law before they can vote to hire Riddick. Davis said the board wanted to find someone who embraced a "growth mindset" and "no-excuses philosophy." He said Riddick, who is originally from El Paso, was identified by a search team and recruited to apply for the position.Riddick has served as superintendent for Cedar Hill ISD since 2014, where he earned $206,700 a year, according to his contract. He started there after his predecessor's resigned in 2013 following allegations of sexual misconduct by teachers.Riddick told the News that it was "a very difficult thing because now you're talking about trust in your school, trust within your system, within the processes."  Continue reading...
