A bystander trying to break up a fight was shot in the groin during a shootout on Lower Greenville late Wednesday, police said. Officers were dispatched to the corner of Greenville and Prospect avenues, near the Trader Joe's, just after 10:50 p.m. During the investigation, police found that the bystander walked away after initially trying to intervene because one of the men fighting pulled out a handgun, Dallas police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez said. The other man in the argument also pulled out a handgun and approached the other gunman, Gutierrez said. They both started shooting at each other. Amid the exchange of gunfire, the bystander was shot. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The shooters fled before officers arrived.
