Border Agents in Texas Seize Over a Ton of Weed Worth $2M, All in a Weekend

Border patrol agents seized nearly $2 million worth of marijuana in three separate incidents near Laredo over the weekend.In the largest seizure, agents found about 1,700 pounds of marijuana in a white Dodge Ram utility truck on Friday. The drugs were estimated to be worth $1.3 million.The truck, which was traveling down FM 1017 near Hebbronville, contained bundles of marijuana throughout its interior, truck bed and compartments.The driver was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with the marijuana.The same day, agents near Laredo seized more than $300,000 worth of marijuana in a pickup but failed to capture the drug runners.Agents stopped the suspicious Ford F-150 pickup on U.S. Highway 83. The truck did not yield and its two occupants abandoned the vehicle, escaping from agents. Agents found nearly 400 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.On Sunday, agents responding to suspicious activity near Riverside Drive in Laredo found about 370 pounds of marijuana in the brush.
