‘Bob' the Con Man Collected Rent for Empty Homes He Didn't Own, Arlington Police Say

An Arlington man was arrested Wednesday on felony theft charges after police say he tricked victims into paying him rent for houses he didn't own.Clinton Argilagos, 33, scoped out vacant houses for sale and would replace the "for sale" signs out front with his own "for rent" sign, according to police documentsAfter receiving calls from would-be renters, Argilagos would arrange to meet at fast food restaurants to collect the victims' first month's rent and security deposit, police said. Calling himself "Bob," Argilagos would tell victims to "let themselves in" to the houses to inspect the property before renting, police said.The scheme finally came to light when two victims started to move into the same house at the same time.   Continue reading...
