Baylor Hospitals in Garland and at White Rock Lake Are Up for Sale

The Baylor Scott and White Medical Centers in Garland and White Rock Lake are up for sale and are in private negotiations with a potential buyer. The hospitals are among five in North Texas that in 2016 became part of a joint venture between Baylor Scott and White Health and another major provider, Tenet Healthcare. The institutions confirmed Friday that the 113-bed Garland medical center and 218-bed White Rock facility are in the process of being sold. They did not immediately provide additional detail or comment. Staff in the office of Mayor Douglas Athas of Garland say he was notified a few weeks ago.Baylor Scott & White Health is an $11 billion non-profit corporation that operates 50 hospitals and emergency medical centers in Texas. Tenet, which estimates its full-year revenues will reach around $20 billion in 2017, is a national company based in Dallas that operates 30 hospitals in Texas and 80 total in the U.S.The Baylor-Tenet partnership deal that took effect last year closed in December 2015 at a net transaction price of approximately $288 million, according to federal documents.
